Introduction to Part 8 – Abuses and Outright Cruelty
I saved this part for last. I considered leaving it out because I thought you probably wouldn’t believe these stories anyway and maybe just the evidence of the obvious (once you take your blinders off) out-tech, off-policy and false PR about the “explosive growth” in Scientology, would be enough for you to get my side of the story.
But the abuses were probably the most important reason for my leaving. I may not have ever believed the stories I read and heard if it weren’t for the obvious other outpoints, all of them major overall outpoints, that I could see with my own eyes.
Just as it would take a suppressive to alter the tech and policy to the degree that this had been done, as I have described throughout most of my story, it also would take a suppressive to abuse people the way people were claiming to be abused, mostly in the Sea Org, and to create an atmosphere of abuse to a point where good people are made into abusers themselves. So there was much reason to give credence to the stories that were being told.
That, and the fact that there are so many of them. There’s no way that thousands of people have conspired to lie about these things. That’s my reality.
Any decent, well-intentioned person who really knows what has gone on at the Int base would never ever support David Miscavige’s organization. It is utterly cruel!
The problem is that people who have been convinced that David Miscavige is an upstat, the savior of Scientology and all that, do not know about these things and if they are told about them, they do not believe them. So they continue to support him even though they would never support organizations such as the Nazis, the Ku Klux Klan or the Mafia.
Those are very harsh comparisons, I know, but read on, and you will at least get a sample. I am going to tell you some of the stories that had a particular influence on me. You may not believe them, but at least you will get the final part of my side of the story.
Most, but not all, of the following testimonies that happened to be the ones that impinged on me the most are from “The Truth Rundown” (at the time it only consisted of what is now the bottom half of the page that shows up when you click on this link) series from the St Petersburg Times. On the other hand there were hundreds of other stories from other people in hundreds of other internet sites.
